GPS Tracking Systems

What keeps school transportation administrators up at night?

  1. Where are our buses?
  2. Where is each student?
  3. Where did students enter the bus?
  4. Are our students being transported safely?
  5. Are our buses being driven as efficiently as possible?

These are common questions asked by administrators on a daily basis in our school districts.

School Bus Roster (a joint project between Track What Matters GPS tracking systems and Texas Barcode Systems) is a simple, yet robust solution to protect the safety of students riding school buses, the fiscal wellbeing of the school system, and to reduce the likelihood of liability issues for school districts.

School Bus Roster uses GPS tracking and student ID cards to produce an affordable solution to bus and student tracking accessible from any computer connected to the Internet (no software to install).

Each time students enter a school bus, they swipe their bar-coded student ID card under the infrared barcode scanner mounded beside the bus driver. At that point, their ID and time of scan is sent to the School Bus Roster servers. When the student leaves the bus, which is being tracked with GPS tracking, they scan their bar-coded ID card again. And, again, their student ID and time of card swipe is sent to the School Bus Roster servers.

At the School Bus Roster servers, the student ID card scans are combined with bus location data, as recorded with GPS tracking, to show where and when the students, tracked by ID, entered and exited the school bus.

Because your students' privacy and safety are of utmost important to us, we do not store student tracking information on the School Bus Roster servers. Instead, we only store the student IDs of those students whose bus attendance is being tracked with no indication of their true identities. We then make that student ID tracking information available to school administrators through a number of mechanisms. These include online views, online reports, web services, and offline reports.

School Bus Roster offers custom school bus GPS tracking and student tracking application development and tools to help your district integrate your district IT systems with our service. In most cases, the tools you need will exist, but if required, our development team is more than capable of creating custom GPS tracking for school buses and student tracking solutions to meet your school districts unique situation.
